In working with siding, AYR-FOIL™ provides excellent insulation value with minimal space. In this application, AYR-FOIL™ provides radiant barrier protection - stopping summer heat gain outside the building envelope and keeping heat within the envelope in the winter.

Using AYR-FOIL™ in this application can give you a couple of features that safeguard your siding, such as extra impact moisture resistance, mold and fungi protection. This application is very easy to install in a retrofit or non-retrofit situation, but your siding must be installed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

INSTALLATION METHOD #1: Unroll AYR-FOIL™ horizontally against old siding. Staple AYR-FOIL™ to old siding with foil facing foil face out:white on wall. Leave 1/2" gap between each section of AYR-FOIL™. Do not tape joints. Install new siding over AYR-FOIL™ as usual.

INSTALLATION METHOD #2: Unroll AYR-FOIL™ double bubble poly (16"or 24") horizontally against your wall with the foil face out:white on wall Staple AYR-FOIL™ double bubble poly securely to your wall. Repeat steps 1-2 to cover your entire wall, leaving a 1/2” gap between each application of AYR-FOIL™. Do not tape over the 1" gaps. Install new siding over your AYR-FOIL™ insulation as per manufacturers’ specifications.

All seams should be taped using a flat edge to ensure a continuous vapor barrier.
